Coaching Training - PCA PDF Print

The Peace Curling Association along with Technical Director, Dan Kleinschroth instructed a Club Coach in November - Slave Lake.  We had 8-participants, completing the Clinic - which is great!

That was followed up with a Competition Coach, in January - Falher Curling Club.  We had an additional 7-participants, completing the training.

It’s important to keep in mind, a minimum of 6-participants is required for a clinic to run. Also note that the Competition Coach variety, includes a Friday evening class for the MED module (Making Ethical Decisions).

Juniors - Road to Canadians PDF Print

Kayla Skrlik, Carley Wolfe, Ashton Skrlik, Morgan Krassman and coach Charles Simoneau – came within one shot of winning the Alberta Junior Girls Provincial Championships, in Wainwright.

Their incredible run, was cut short by what some are calling “the best shot ever” to win a Junior Championships – by Selena Sturmay.

This is the second consecutive season that a PCA girls team has lost the final on last rock – as Janais DeJong did it the previous season.

Both Skrlik and DeJong are eligible to compete in the 2016/2017 championships!

On another note Tristan Steinke – Dawson Creek resident (long time player in PCA and Pomeroy Inn & Suites PCT) who plays on one of the best young teams in the country out of Edmonton – was the men’s champion playing third for Karsten Sturmay (…brother of Selena).

The semi and finals will be broadcasted live on TSN.

Best ice instruction in the World? PDF Print

One of the best ice technicians in the World (Jamie Bourassa) was in the PCA – in a tour of the area – helping with Ice Installation, Ice Consolation and providing two separate Level One Ice Tech certifications. This opportunity in the PCA has expanded our knowledge and improved playing conditions in the region.  Through two separate Level 1 Ice Tech Clinics and two separate Ice Consolations - an investment in our region, with some of the best ice practices on the planet, will be the fruits in our playing conditions moving forward.  A special thanks to Jamie, for not only helping in our communities in his scheduled tenure, but going beyond the call - volunteering his own time, as part of this initiative.  This type of expertise is unmeasurable - and we are proud to grow our game, here in the Peace Curling Association.
