Teams compete for two berths (for men and for women) to the Tim Hortons Alberta Senior Provincials February 15 - 19 at the Lethbridge Curling Club.

Optimist Juvenile PCA Districts PDF Print

The Optimist Juvenile Boys and Girls PCA District playdowns go this weekend at the Fairview Curling Club.  There are two berths for boys and two berths for girls 17 and under to the Optimist Alberta Juvenile Provincials March 2 - 4, 2012 at the Thistle Curling Club in Edmonton.

Competing teams are as follows:

Girls:  Megan Broadhead (Manning), Sara Guenette (Grande Prairie), Kellie Henricks (Grande Prairie), Robyn Simoneau (Falher) and Janais DeJong (Grande Prairie)

Boys:  Eric Garant (Falher), Tristan Steinke (Dawson Creek), Derek Syme (Beaverlodge), Sterling Middleton (Fort St. John) and Devin Burkitt (Hudson's Hope).

The Pomeroy Inn & Suites Peace Curling Tour Championships were held January 20-22 at the Sexsmith Curling Club.
 
More than $23,000 in cash and prizes were awarded in three divisions.
 
 
 
Kurt Balderston (Sexmsith) took home his third consecutive title with a victory over Graham Powell (Sexsmith).  Team Balderston (third Les Sonnenberg, second Rob Maksymetz and lead Del Shaughnessy) took home the $3000 first place prize.  Since the tour's inception, Team Balderston  has not lost a game at the Tour Championship.
 
 
Devin Burkitt (Hudson's Hope) defeated Stephanie Powell (Grande Prairie).  Burkitt (third Ian Turner, second Dustyn Wozny and lead Tiegan Carver) took home the top prize of $2,200.
 
Canwest Group Benefits Junior Division (share of $2500 in prizes)
 
Team Darren Turcotte (third Jean Brochu, second Evan Limoges and lead Jacques Brochu) defeated Kellie Henricks of Grande Prairie in the final, the difference coming in the 5th end when Turcotte scored five.
