PCA associated member – Grande Prairie Curling Centre and the Community of Grande Prairie are hosts of two premiere curling events: The Canada Cup of Curling December 2nd the 6th and the Scotties Tournament of Hearts February 20th to 28th @ Revolution Place.

PCA products Geoff “The Texas Ranger” Walker (former long-time second for Kurt Balderston) lead on Team Gushue and Carter Rycroft second on the current Canadian Men’s Champions, Pat Simmons rink will be competing in the opening event!

The Peace Curling Association along with Technical Director, Dan Kleinschroth will be instructing a Level One (Club Coach) and Level Two (Competition Coach) – in November.

The dates are as follows:

Club Coach Clinic – November 14th and 15th, location (TBD)

Competition Coach Clinic – November 20th, 21st and 22nd, location (TBD)

It’s important to keep in mind, a minimum of 6-participants is required for a clinic to run. Also note that the Competition Coach variety, includes a Friday evening class for the MED module (Making Ethical Decisions).

Best ice instruction in the World? PDF Print

One of the best ice technicians in the World (Jamie Bourassa) will grace his craft in the PCA – in a tour of the area – helping with Ice Installation, Ice Consolation and providing two separate Level One Ice Tech certifications. What an opportunity in the PCA to expand our knowledge and improve playing conditions throughout.

Tentative scheduling (9am to 5 pm) is as follows. Jamie, will be in the PCA at various clubs:

                   Grande Prairie – September 15th to 17th      Ice Install, including Level 1 course ($100 course fee)

                   Dawson Creek – October 14th to 16th         Install, including Level 1 course

                   Fort St. John – October 19th-20th                Ice Consultation (Free)

                   Peace River – October 26th-27th                  Ice Consultation

PCA Junior Rock Star Camp PDF Print

 The PCA Junior Rock Star Camp is set for October 17 - 18, 2015.

Join us for over 8 hours of instruction most of which is on ice.  Areas of focus include delivery, brushing and strategy.

Open for athletes ages 8 - 18.  Lunch and snacks included.

Sweeping Changes PDF Print

Some significant changes (CCA and ACF) that will impact competitive curlers of all ages (in PCA):

Junior eligibility has decreased by ½ a year (as in the cut-off date)

No age restrictions on Men’s, Ladies and Mixed curling going forward

Juveniles is now U-18 and the cut-off date is: under 18 as of June 30th, 2015 (for this season)

Competitive teams (in men's and ladies only) are allowed one free agent, from anywhere in Canada – to compete on the district/provincial/national stage.

And some clothing changes, for competitive players providing more options for sponsorship and individualities.  As in, outfits must match – however, no longer have to be black pants.  #Numbers# allowed on backs, sponsorship on brooms and bags as well.  And increase in exposure on jackets.
