MEDIA RELEASE NOVEMBER 21ST

The “prelims” are over and teams have officially qualified for the coveted Pomeroy Inn & Suites Tour Championships (Jan, in Sexsmith).

Karsten Sturmay stole the show, for the second straight tour event – swiping one in the seventh end and two more in the eighth end, for an improbable 6-5 comeback against tour heavy weight and 2012 World Senior Champion, Mark Johnson.

Sturmay’s junior team, finishes with a massive 14-point advantage over second and was two-points shy of a triple crown on the tour (never been accomplished, from knowledge dating back to the 1970s).  Karsten and his team will be one of the obvious favorites @ the Alberta Junior Provincial, in Grande Prairie (January).  Eight teams including Sturmay and Johnson have qualified in the Sunlife Financial Competitive Division – Tour Championships.

Another junior team was a back-to-back jack’s winner on the tour, with Dustin Turcotte of Falher.  Turcotte scored a four ball in four, cruising his way to victory over Doug Small of Grande Prairie, 8-1.  Dustin and his team, will have an excellent chance in the PCA Junior District playdowns this December in Manning – leading up to the ACF Provincials in Grande Prairie.  Eight teams including Turcotte and Small have qualified in the EnCana Challenge Division – Tour Championships.
